Happy New Year!!

Ok, Obviously it has been way too long since I wrote anything on here. So this will be a quick catch-up entry.

In July, when school was out, Roger and I went to Placerville and spent a week there visiting my dad and Lynne & Owen. On the way home, we went through San Diego and celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. I can't believe it's been 5 years already! I am so lucky to have found Roger!

We had been home maybe two days, and were preparing to leave to go to Las Vegas and visit Steve and Debbie, when I got a phone call from a hospital in Sacramento. My dad had suffered another heart attack and they were going to do a quadruple bypass the next morning. Try as I might, I could not find a way to get up there before he went into surgery. No planes, trains, buses or automobiles would get me there on time. So I called him the next morning before he went into surgery and waited by the phone to hear from his nurse when the surgery was over. Thankfully, all went well and I drove up to Placerville to be there when he was released from the hospital. I stayed there another week, taking care of him, trying to clean his house, getting things he needed, etc. I could not stay longer than a week because Roger and I had another committment, but I was very glad to at least have that week with him.

At the end of summer, we got a new kitten. Gilbert seemed so lonely after Paulina died, that we finally decided to get him a new friend. I am not sure he is very grateful. We got a new calico kitten. After much discussion, we named her Abby after "Abby-Normal" in the movie, "Young Frankenstein." I also call her other things such as Abby-girl, Abagail, Abba-Zabba, Abra-Cadabra, etc. It has been a very long time since I had a brand new kitten and I'd forgotten just how energetic and curious they are. There is absolutely NOTHING in this house that Abby will not climb on, get into, mess up, scratch, or try to eat! She is a real handful but she is beautiful and sweet. We love her, even if Gilbert is not sure that he does!

In October, Roger and I went to Grand Lodge (Masonic) in San Francisco. That was quite an experience! At the end of that month, we went to Ontario for another Masonic event: a three-day inspector's retreat. I had a blast at that and met some wonderful women.

For Thanksgiving we decided to just celebrate here, just the two of us. For Christmas, we went to Las Vegas to spend time with Steve and Debbie. Then, we went to Los Angeles and had a couple of days with Chris, Earleen, Leslie, Eddie, and my dad.

It has been quite a year! One of my many, MANY favorite things about being married to Roger is that we go so many places together. This year alone we have been to Placerville several times, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas (a number of times), Ontario, and San Francisco. My van already has over 100,000 miles on it. I am very grateful for all my blessings: My wonderful husband, my family and friends, my job, my home, the gospel, my callings (especially now that I am no longer in Primary!!), my testimony, my health, my students, etc. I try very hard to never take anything for granted. I know how lucky and blessed I am and I also know that anything can happen!
